Ballantyne House, Inverness

Drum Capital Projects and Threesixty Architecture are converting Ballantyne House, a former office building in the centre of Inverness for lease to Travelodge as a 54 bedroom hotel. The project, which will contribute to the regeneration of Academy Street, brings back in to active use redundant space and provides much needed hotel rooms to the active Inverness market.

The 5 storey building occupies a very restricted site on one of the main thoroughfares through the city centre. This has required careful consideration of logistical and buildability issues. The site also forms part of the city centre conservation area so Threesixty have worked with Highland Council to develop an acceptable design which both meets client aspirations and the challenges of the location.

A ground floor café/bar will introduce a new active frontage to the street while the building will be upgraded with new windows throughout. A soft-strip enabling works package has now been completed ahead of the main contract starting. Completion is expected late 2017.
