This energy sector building deliberately highlights the processes that take place in a Biomass Energy Centre. In this way the building acquires a memorable and unique identity within the wider Muntons complex.

The flues, hoppers and other elements specific to the building type are picked out in a strong unifying colour, in deliberate and pronounced contrast to the black cladding.

This cladding brings together a number of different elements and provides a plinth for the strikingly symmetrical composition of the boiler houses; these are contained behind polycarbonate beacons that diffract the light within to glow across the wider complex.

The entire composition is bold in scale and balanced in composition. This has been achieved through the considered use of selected industrial materials, which not only reflect the processes within, but celebrate them.
