The Ronald McDonald House Glasgow provides accommodation which allows families from across Scotland to stay close to their children while they are patients at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Threesixty were appointed to review the building’s front-of-house layout and existing support facilities. New bedrooms are likely to be added to cope with the growing number of families in need of support.
The refurbishment of the entrance and reception space was an opportunity to create a warmer and more welcoming environment for arriving families while the design of more efficient circulation through the building has freed up space to accommodate valuable support services.
A palette of natural colours and materials, consciously chosen to stay away from institutional and corporate tones, helps to create a relaxing environment that has a more domestic feel for visiting families without detracting from staff needs and functions.
